Graduate Assistant

Who can apply: Graduate students

Schedule: 20hrs/wk, includes some evenings and weekends

Pay: Stipend of $16,200 ($8,100 per Fall and Spring semesters), in addition to a tuition waiver

Position Summary:  

The primary role of the Graduate Assistant for the LGBT Resource Center is to support the department's student community building and leadership development initiatives. The Graduate Assistant will gain practical, hands-on experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questions, intersex, asexual students and collaborating with diverse student populations in intersectional ways. This position is supervised by the Coordinator of Education & Outreach and works directly witht he Director, Office Manager, and undergraduate student staff on LGBTQIA+ programs and services to increase student involvement and to enhance students' experience.

Queer and Trans Students of Color Community Development Specialist 

Who can apply: Students (undergraduate or graduate) or non-students 

Schedule: 12hrs/wk, includes some evenings and weekends

Hourly Pay: $15/hr 

Start Date: Aug 2  (flexible)

Term: August 2021-May 2022 (can be renewed for 22-23 for the right candidate) 

Position Summary:  

The Queer and Trans Students of Color Community Development Specialist is a new position which will lead in coordinating community building programs for queer and trans students of color (QTSOC). This includes LGBTQIA+ students who are Black/African American, Indigenous, Asian/Asian American, Latin/o/a/x, Pacific Islander, Arab/Arab American, and/or Multiracial. The Community Development Specialist will create affinity spaces—both in-person and online—for QTSOC at the university to meet each other, form community, and get connected to a greater network of mentors and leaders at the university or in the broader community. This position will outreach to engage students as participants and volunteers in this affinity programming, and will also work with LGBT RC staff to enhance outreach efforts to QTSOC across campus. This position will report to the Director of the LGBT RC and will work with the Director to create assessment measures to show the impact of affinity programming.

Work-Study Student Staff - Education

Who can apply: Undergratuate students (must be eligible for Federal Work Study to be hired)

Schedule: 19hrs/wk, Flexible schedule M-F between 8am to 7pm, includes some evenings and weekends

Hourly Pay: $10/hr 

Start Date: Aug 2 (flexible)

Term: August 2021-May 2022 (can be renewed)

Position Summary:  The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBT RC) is seeking a student who is highly motivated and enthusiastic about LGBTQIA+ issues on campus. As a work study position, this student staff will assist with office outreach efforts through the creation and management of our newsletter, developing engaging social media content, and representing our office at outreach events. In addition to these duties, student staff assist in daily office maintenance, lead in fostering a welcoming environment for students and visitors in the center, give support in planning and coordinating events and help connect students to resources and support.

This position will involve a mix of in-office and remote work following University guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This will include planning and running online events and coming up with creative ways to connect with students at a distance. A work laptop and all software necessary for this job will be provided.
