Coordinator for Community Development and Engagement

Full-time (40+ hours/wk)

Starting Salary: $40,000-$43,000

Benefits: Health Insurance, 401k retirement plan, paid vacation and sick time, 50% tuition benefits

Start Date: April 15-June 3, 2022 (flexible)

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), and two years related experience required. Candidates earning a Bachelor’s degree by June 2022 will be considered. 

Full Position Description and Application:

The Coordinator for Community Development and Engagement leads community-building programs and initiatives at the LGBT RC. This position is essential for designing and coordinating programs that support students in finding a community of affirming peers and mentors. In addition to broad community building and general outreach for the LGBT RC, the Coordinator also creates affinity programs for student populations that are marginalized within the LGBTQIA+ community (trans and non-binary students, asexual/aromantic students, queer and trans students of color, international students, etc.). The Coordinator leads in the planning of signature events and ongoing community development programming. The Coordinator leads outreach initiatives for the office via social media campaigns, newsletters, and other types of communication to reach students and LGBT RC stakeholders. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist with daily operations of the center space including supervision of student staff, programming, budget, strategic planning, and reporting.

Graduate Assistant (starts Fall 2022)

Hours: 20 hours/wk, ocassional evenings and weekends required

Pay: $16,000/year stipend and tuition benefits

The primary role of the Graduate Assistant for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center (LGBT RC) is to support the department’s education and leadership development programs and initiatives. The Graduate Assistant will gain practical experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) students and collaborating with diverse student populations in intersectional ways. This position is supervised by the Coordinator of Education & Outreach and works directly with the Director, undergraduate student staff, and volunteers and interns. 

This position is open a student who will be enrolled full-time as of Fall 2022  in the Educational Leadership & Policy master degree program at the University of Utah OR enrolled full-time in another graduate degree program at the University
